The name Chez Martyne means 'at Martyne's house' in French.
My home has been, and is continuing to be a place of gathering where all are welcome, so my friends started to refer to it as 'Chez Martyne' as a nod to my French Canadian background.
It just made sense to extend the name when I created my home classroom. It is important to me that my students feel welcome.
My background is quite diverse. I was a medic in the Canadian Army Reserves, then I went to teacher college, where I focused on teaching adults and people with learning disabilities. In addition to the PAL and the CORE programs, I’ve been teaching Wilderness Safety with the BC Wildlife Federation and First Aid with the Red Cross.
I love teaching and use a student centric approach to make sure that the information makes sense and is remembered.
I’ve lived in Logan Lake since 2021 and when I’m not teaching, I spend most of my time in the woods with my dog Ranger where you can find me hunting, foraging, always learning more and enjoying nature.
Note that all courses located in Logan Lake are given in my home classroom, and include lunch and snacks if you’re not too picky. Space is limited, so a $50 deposit will be asked to secure your spot.
If you don’t see dates what works for you, give me a call and we can discuss how to make it work for you.
I look forward to meeting you 😊
Cost is $150 per person and is either a day and a half or one very long day.
I welcome adult and youth, and the minimum age is 12 years old.
This is what you need in order to be able to apply for your non restricted firearms licence (PAL).
If your plan is to go hunting, and you have no interest in handguns, this is the course for you.
Cost is $100 and is about a half day.
You need to be 18 years old or older for this course.
This is an add on to the CFSC and will be of interest to you if you are interested in handguns when/if they go back to being legal for civilians.
It is a requirement for some professions' application.
Cost is $200 per person and is two full days.
I welcome adult and youth, and the minimum age is 10 years old.
This course will give you a good baseline for your journey towards being a hunter and prepare you for the hunting licence exam you need if you want to hunt in BC.
Cost is $100 per person and is one day.
We'll talk about the following
I teach the CFSC(PAL) and the CORE courses in Kamloops under the umbrella of Eat Wild every third week of the month.
To see the schedule and enroll, please go to www.eatwild.ca
Eat Wild is my go to resource for any Hunting related videos or podcast. They offer hunting courses and are specific to BC's laws, regulations and wildlife of BC.
I'm always happy to go to areas in BC where you might not have an instructor available.
What's been working well, is one person reaches out to me, and once we agree on a date and location, I advertise in the local media, and get more students.
I never charge extra for this service, but require a minimum of 10 students per course.
Past events included women's groups, youth groups, homeschoolers, Indigenous communities, remote communities...

To enroll, or if you're unsure about what type of training will work best for you, just give me a call, text or message me. Just keep in mind that I spend a lot of time in the woods, so it can take a little time before I get back into service range.
I will ask you for your name, and a $50 deposit (e-transfer or cash). This is of course refundable within reason if you give me enough time to find another student.
My home classroom is in Logan Lake, BC, but I'm happy to go to you if we can get a small group together.
I'm still pretty low tech, as you can probably guess with this website! Best ways to reach me are: Call or text : 604-505-7177 Email : martynelacoste@hotmail.com Facebook messenger : Facebook/chezmartyne
